At the last instant Kyra moved so fast she was nothing but a blur. The other vampire did as well, so the shot missed by an inch. Kyra didn't have time to deal with the human hunter. She hated them with a passion. They always made her job harder not to mention they killed her kind, both feral and not. And oft times they didn't even kill a feral correctly. Kyra just had to hunt them later and clean up the mess. She had become mist to try and find Demetri who had seemed to disappear. Her senses flared out and she heard a whimper towards the end of the alley. Reforming she crouched down, and removed her sunglasses. Her eyes glowed an eerie violet in the night as her eyes met the red of the feral. He had a child clutched to his chest, blocking any attack from her or the human. Kyra knew she had to be careful. Demetri had no reason to not harm the kid. Instantly not wanting the child to suffer Kyra took control of her mind and kept her still and calm. The child seemed to enter a trance. Kyra turned her attention back to the feral. He was an ancient it was true, but then she wasn't just any Hunter. She needed to keep him off guard.
"Playing with your food Demetri? Why am I not surprised it's how I tracked you. You should be more careful. You leave a trail of bodies that are easy to find."
D:"Hear her heart beat Kyra? There is nothing like the taste of fear to make their blood so much more sweet."
"Thanks but I'd rather not."
D:"Why is it we can no longer sense the demon in you Kyra? Have you lost your edge?"
Kyra's smile was that of a killer, cold and emotionless.
"Perhaps because I learned how to get rid of it without harming others or taking away from my abilities."
D:"Pity. If we had added you to our ranks it would have been a welcome addition."
"Unlike you and yours I do not betray my King. I have my honor."
The vampire growled angrily his hand tightened on the child's neck. Kyra didn't look. She couldn't let the child distract her. With an ancient like Demetri it could get her killed. She'd never understood how humans were able to kill her kind, then again her kind underestimated them.
