Amen to that. But I do wish that people in office would quit putting so much emphasis on our petty problems and stop, if just for a brief moment...long enough for someone to point to Uganda and say, "Hey, look over here. Sure, we've got issues of our own, but some people have it a lot worse."
But of course, being the non-politically-inclined individual I am, I agree when you say we
should be able to solve those kind of problems on our own. It seems to me like there are so many people who are obsessed with what goes on in office that if, say, that Obama guy were to mention the situation in Uganda it'd get some people moving. (I don't think he will, though.)
I guess that's one reason I'm glad the people in aforementioned website are putting together this "Rescue" project. It'll really get the word out, if nothing else. *sighs longingly* I wish I could go, but there's no way. I emailed the IC people to see if I could put together a smaller rally and still have it be legit, but they haven't responded...weeks later. Pshaw. :P
