Orbs flashed everywhere, stars were hidden in the red smoke. My breath dragged on, hearing screams and pointless weeps at fallen bodies still on the ground. They weren't yet dead, but would be in a minute's time. One grabbed at my passing ankle, snatching it and heaving it's way up.
"Help me," It gasped.
"Not a chance," I flipped my hair over my shoulder. "Mia, your turn."
She swung in, glowing wings, bright as night, saying some spell, burning the demon, not only in screams, but in blackish fire as well.
