Physically, they are almost identical to humans and college Football tailgaters. Thick brow, coarse body hair, and an overall bulkier frame lend to an assumption of brawn in lieu of brains; some may argue that you don't need to invent the wheel if you can wrestle a polar bear. Coloration varies, but more often than not a prominent tan and weathered skin make them look darker and older than would be expected. Squinting at a sunrise over a snow-covered horizon will often lead to crow's feet around the eyes, too.
Strengths:
Sturdy - above average Strength and Constitution; strong and hearty.
Primitive Weapons - Good with spears, javelins, clubs, and fishing rods.
Survivors - VERY GOOD with adaptation, ranging from a great metabolism to naturally re-align to harsh conditions and just a good nature-sense.
Weaknesses:
Slow - below average, in both intelligence and physical dexterity. Not quick witted or quick to act, though the second is obviously a symptom of their pwoerful bulk.
Primitive Weapons - BAD with crossbows or any other military weapons.
Illiterate and uneducated - VERY BAD with modernization, balancing between childish admiration and a fear of 'unholy' crafts.
Full credit for the idea must go to the Frostburn supplement for D&D, though I will subsequently take my own share of artistic liscense for adapting the race and how I will furthermore play my character in your world.
Check that over, before I finish creating Nanook of the North; an idea completely stolen from a Jim Carrey standup that I absolutely love.
