Default Larrin / Ven

Your in a little village towards the eastern part of the lands, in a little village. the sort thats just shy of being half dwarves, and the rest a mix of elves and humans (40 30 30 split). Its also close enough to The Way - the great road that cuts through the lands - that strangers are not looked upon strangely. Anyways.

Turns out there is a very noticeable problem with the savage races, markedly so since the spring thaw. In fact, you've come across it personally. And, in the form of a surly dwarf by the name of Dulgerr, whom you haven't taken the time to find out much about other than he had his hand burned by a kobold magician of some sort. Oh, and some old wizard wants a Totem thingy from some kobold shaman that he can't speak the name of for some mysterious reason (gave you a magic trinket to summon him with, blah blah blah).

Anyhoo, keep getting distracted. Your wicked heritage has you in a disgusting habit of sticking your nose where it doesn't belong, so you lassooed the dwarf and his companions to join you on this adventure and track stuff down. not that you know what you're looking for in the first place. Looking to the elf to track the kobolds down, he stares at you blankly. *rolling* wow, you manage to carry on the staring contest long enough for the surly old bastard to yell, "Hey lovebirds! stop gazing longingly inta each others eyes and get yer arses over here! Me lad's got the scent!"

I don't know why, but my dwarves always dound like drunken irishmen with a touch of phlegm.

If you're ready, you can follow the path. Youve got your magic toys, (listed on your character sheet, please dont go changing it on me hehehe) your nifty little garotte, and a magic backpack that contains little things like water bottle, rope, a torch, toothbrush, and any other minor everyday things that noone thinks to add to their character sheet and expects a DM to be lenient enough to say, "why yes, you find ______ in the bottom of your backpack. Funny, you didn't think you remembered to pack it." (cain's got the same backpack, i havent figured out what we're going to do with that scales dude, not sure if he technically has a back, let alone the whole . . . yeah)

Ven moves to follow the lad with the scent, following the path as it were. He tries keep in the middle of the group, keeping the elf in the back. As he walks he keeps on hand on his wand of mage armour, just in case he needs a little protection. He's more then happy to let the dwarf lead him where ever, not so much out of trust as out of convinience.

You set off at a medium pace into the forest. Itsa truly wonderful day. The birds are singing, there's a hint of flowers lingering in the gentle mountain breeze, the sun occasionally sneaking a glance through the trees overhead warms your face. (listening to blues traveller, i'm so happy its sick) Really, you could have followed this path yourself. You can even see where the dead goblin's sleeve got caught on a shrub and his allies were too lazy to unsnag it (or too stupid, its a toss up). Following the path for *rolling* an hour, everyone's resolve begins to falter. Though noone has said anything yet, the pace slowed to a stroll. Jo the half-elf is gazing around, and has taken to making bird calls. Hes pretty good too. Dulgerr is tromping on like a good stalwart dwarf, though he's taken to chewing very loudly on . . . something. You didn't see him eat anything. The only one that doesn't seem affected is Dalgren, the mini-dwarf. Then again, he's widening the gap pretty noticeably by this time.

Ven keeps on task, though he notes the others lack of enthusiasm, he thinks perhaps if he gets the others talking, it will attract the goblins...i mean it will keep them occupied and still walking. he walks up next to Dulger "Sooo, that Dalgren is quite the bloodhound, pretty sharp kid, eh?" he offers Dulgerr a peice of beef jerky from his magic backpack....

He holds his hand up to signal a no thank you (though thats not the dwarven terminology) and spits a mouthful of something brown and slimey over his shoulder. "Yep, dun something wrong with that boy. Let him spend too much time with those damn elves. He keeps pickin up these annoyin habits all the time. This rate, he'll be such a pansy he wont grow a proper beard til his twenties." You noticed Jo missed a note when his race got slighted, but seems amicable enough to ignore the bitter words of the man who pays his bills. "Hes sharp alright, still got potential t'b'come somethin." *rolling: success* you dodge the spittle as he so eloquently blends those two words into one syllable.

Since Ven still can't grow a beard, he can relate to the poor boys misfortune. "just give him lots of coffee and rum, that puts the hair on i hear." Ven mutters, and falls back to Jo's position "What about you," he asks the elf "Any insights on the little tracker."

Jo smiles a knowing smile, nodding politely and halting his whistles.

(sorry about the delay. only have time to do one or two right now, just waiting for people to get ready then its off to my cousins wedding)

As you are heading along down the path, you hear an enormous roar, and an owlbear tears through the underbrush onto the path ahead of you. Dalgren, in complete shock, backpedals frantically, tripping over his own feet and going down hard. you barely have time to think as the owlbear tears forwards towards the boy. Dulgerr is the first to react, leaping forward and yelling "BIGBY!"

You feel a surge of power tear through your body as the young elf beside you lets loose. Reaching forward, you see a glowing hand extend from his own, wrapping itself around the owlbear and lifting it from the ground. There is a look of calmness on the elf's face; he's barely even trying. *rolling* you are speechless.

Dulgerr lifts his son off the ground, dusts him off, and begins lecturing him in dwarven. Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out an enormous pair of gauntlets, handing them one at a time to the boy. They shrink to perfect size as he slips the second one on, and you can hear them subtly creak as he flexes his fists. Then, from a belt loop that you hadn't seen a moment before, he pulls a pair of funky looking throwing axes. The blades are long and slender, wrapping like a mountain goat's horn around in a spiral. Dalgren tests their weight, spinning them and stretching out his shoulders. Giving a nod to his father, he shrugs off his travel cloak and readies himself. Dulgerr calls out, "He's ready Bigby. Fang, you gonna help or what?"

I think he's talking to you.
