DC / Scales
okay, where did we leave off? right, you were trying to commit suicide in front of a horde of angry orks. You fought the guard, he called for backup, and they're all swarming to the river bank to see what the commotion was about.
You wanted to swim around and distract them. I'm not even going to roll that. out of two hundred axes, at least one is bound to hit you. as the only part they could aim for is your head, thats an automatic crit, even if the size modifier boosts the difficulty of the hit. So.
As you drop your robes again, preparing to swim into the middle of the river to get their attention and draw them north away from the village, you see a large dorsal fin in the water. You recognize it as one of the enormous Dire Sharks that was trying to eat the ship you took to cross into these lands. *rolling: success* You pass your intelligence check to realize its mouth is pretty much the same size as the river, and if you go in it, you will be eaten. no amount of natural armour will save you from that shit.
this is the last time i will mention that the rivers are the borders to the land you are in. north of the river serpent is for levels 10 and up, south of the river snake is for levels 15 and up. youve got a nice wonderful country to explore, but if you go waging cross-border disputes, you do not get diplomatic immunity. you are leve one. i'm not sure what game systems you're used to, but where i come from, that means youre on par to take on a sewer rat as long as youve got an ally or healer within spitting distance.
On a side note, its a 20 foot high bonfire in the middle of a field. on your side of the river, the trees are well lit for as far as you can see in any direction. meaning, you dont have to tell anyone the orks are there. they just announced themselves. sorry if i sound like a dick, but i'm tired of babysitting your character. i've saved your life twice already. don't go looking for a third strike.

Completely understood.....well except for the whole location thing, am I on the same side as the orcs or the same side as the elf.
If on the same side of orcs than I slither away into the thickest brush I can find and try to hide as best I can creeping away so as not to get caught.
If on the same side of the elf, make way back to her asking for her suggestion for the best course of action since I am new to the area and never have faired against such monsters until earlier that day...with approiate hissing and such in the speach. For now not even worrying about the robes as they may hinder some movement and she probly is used to my form after already seeing it fully the first time.
Apparently not the time for cockiness...at least not until better skilled, and Im used to this rp enviroment.

She motions for the trees, stepping lightly to follow her own advice. Her back pressed safely against the trunk of a tree about twenty paces into the forest, she mutters, "I've never seen so many at once." Looking up, she meets your eyes. No mistaking that look of fear. "We have to get help." She hesitates, as if unsure of herself (completely contrary to your first impression) before adjusting her quiver, shaking her feet, and switching her bow to her right hand. Taking a deep breath, she exhales loudly, sucks in a gulp of air, and is off running. *rolling* you knew what she was up to, and are hot on her heels. fallen logs are a bit of a hindrance, though not as much as the branches slapping at her soft skin, so you're able to keep up. *rolling* exhaustion won't be a problem either, so as you haul off on a run and she at a jog, it takes what seems like hours to get to some sort of destination - an abandoned guardpost in the middle of a forest.

Why coming here, though most likely it may offer some added defence against the orcs if they come this way. She seems fairly quick with her bow so could take out a good number by the time they would make it to the guard post...if they dont try to torch it.
But thats getting ahead of myself, if the orcs were after us than wed being sign of them soon. What type of help was she looking for here.
Panting and trying to steady his breathe...
"Thisss iss where you exssspect to find helpz?" not meant to be sarcastic, just asking.

She stops dead in her tracks, slowly turning to face you. "Save your breath, snake, you'll need it for the warhorn." Pointing to the stairs climbing the tower, she motions to to start climbing. "I'll start the fire, there will be some cold and hungry folk on their way soon."
*rolling: amazingly successful. you jerk.
From what your intelligence check tells you, its a safe bet there's a big loud horn at the top of that tower, intended to summon everyone within earshot to a battle-ready state. safe bet is this isn't the only tower on the bank of the river, so maybe the fire is another sign that they're in the right place. Looking at the stairs, they seem decent enough that your legless self can get up them without a problem. Figured I'd be nice to you. However, it definitely looks like it would be damn near impossible to get up the stairs with one or two well placed defenders.

Well that being the case, Scales goes up to the top at gets the horn as quick as possible.
Concidering the state of ergency he blows it as hard as his lungs will permit. That is if he can grasp it in his snake hands...not sure how hard it would be to grip...if he needs to grip it.

It is an enormous horn that spirals up into the air. Its mouthpiece is at about shoulder height for you, so no worries whatsoever. Its made to accomodate pretty much anyone.
Blowing with all your might, a low, shuddering moan comes forth. it seems to resonate through the trees, as if they take up the call. Before you know it, a hawk lands on the railing beside you. Turning your eyes to look without stopping, you are shocked to hear it say, "You can stop now." So shocked, in fact, that you stop without thinking.
As you turn to get a proper look, your jaw drops open stupidly as it morphs into a man. He's got the same sort of look on his face as he says, "What in the seven nations are you?"

"New to thissss realm. Are you the firssst to reply or the the only one?"
Thinking it may be out of question to sound as surprised as he looked, though by the way he spoke it could be told he was still in some wonderment of how the bird was a man.
Keeps an open ear out for any other things which may approach the out post, or for that elfen friend.

"First." He doesn't add anything beyond that, simply looking you up and down. His hand is on the hilt of his sword, but he doesnt seem in a hurry to use it.
You cannot see anyone at ground level, though that doesnt mean there isnt anyone.

Abit hesitant but the curious of it gets him to ask...
"How issss it you change formsss?"
Him being the first to respond is some relief that there will be a good chance at taking on the orcs if/ when they attack. Though if this bird/man came, he wonders what other strangwe beings will answer the call...
