The Basement Dark in the dusty depths of the basment lie peoples past, a place to reflect on what once was. Here is where you can read and make your own conclusion of what is, was, and is to come.

Post POW: What Happens- Like Hafiz

New Week, New Poem

What Happens

What happens when your soul
Begins to awaken
Your eyes
And your heart
And the cells of your body
To the great Journey of Love?

First there is wonderful laughter
And probably precious tears

And a hundred sweet promises
And those heroic vows
No one can ever keep.

But still God is delighted and amused
You once tried to be a saint.

What happens when your soul
Begins to awake in this world

To our deep need to love
And serve the Friend?

O the Beloved
Will send you
One of His wonderful, wild companions

–Like Hafiz.

So....in attempt to get discussion going, I guess I'll start. There are parts of this poem that I really like. It creates a interesting pictures of how we view death. It talks about how we make all of these promises in life that we can never keep and in the meantime God is sitting out there laughing at us. It definetly makes you stop to think about how you live your life and if you are putting way too much emphisis on the end as oppsed to living in the now.
