Thumbs up What are you reading now?

Read any good books lately?

I'm still slowly plodding through "Pride & Prejudice". I love it dearly, but it's been hard to get through for some reason.

While I was at Barnes & Noble the other day, I came across another book - Ted Dekker & Erin Healy's new mystery novel, "Kiss". I read through the first three or four chapters at B&N, then bought it for five dollars less at Wal-Mart. Excellent book, so far!

Im reading the Noble Dead series by Barb and JC Hendee.... good set of books. I'm also reading Wuthering Heights for school so I can analyze the dreams from a Freudian view. It's a good book too. You should also read the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind its awesome!!!! By far one of my most favorite book series. Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series is great as well but you have to have a decent stomach for some of the more explicit R parts of the book. The Troy series by Sara Douglass... Umm I think I could go on and on and on LOL.... need any more ideas?

"Sword Of Truth"...Terry Goodkind...those names ring a bell. *looks up info on them* Hey, these do look cool! I'll have to check 'em out sometime. I've got a whole list of books I want to read once I'm done with these two!

Eh, I dunno about "Kushiel", though. I have a pretty weak stomach, unfortunately :P. Hehe, thanks for the warning, though.

"Troy"? *Googles* Oh, sounds interesting too!

Thanks for the recommendadions!

Side note on the Sword of Truth.... If you plan on watching any of "Legend of the Seeker" fear not for it does not follow the books. I would love the series if I had not read the books first. It does give foreshadowing of a kind for future books so do beware on that front, but it is almost to far into the TV show to get a grasp on the idea of the show.

PS... Sara Douglass = HOLY OH MY WOW!!!! I love all of her books.... *Feels down due to the author getting cancer and the release of her next book being postponed!* It's the third book in the Serpent Bride series, but I have loved all her books so far. Oh and Juliette Marillier is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO Good if you like Historical Fiction. The first ones I read was the sevenwaters series which is based on Irish Folklore. The next was the Wolfskin/Foxmask Duology that begins in Norway and ends in the Light Isles, I think they are the islands of Scotland???? Then the Bridei Chronicles is the Fictionalized story of King Bridei of the Picts... Awesome series... then there is Wildwood Dancing (Transylvanian folklore) Cybele's Secret (Characters from WD) and it's almost like a Budapest Folklore.

I told you I could go on... *Wonders if I should just attach a catalog of all my books that I own.*

Note to self: Recatalog and aphabetize books SOON!!!

I just got my Christmas present. I don't know if either of you have ever heard of it. It's called an Amazon Kindle. They waited to ship it to me until they could ship the Kindle 2. I absolutely love it. It makes reading so much easier. I can download up to 1500 books on it. Plus it has a built in dictionary so in something like "Pride and Prejudice" if there is a word I'm having trouble understanding the context I can use the dictionary to help. It's awesome. Right now I have two books I'm reading at once. A fiction and non-fiction. The thing saves my place. lol

Currently I am trying to catch up on my comic books. There has been too much happening over both the DC and Marvel universes youd think they were thinking they were losing fan base. Honestly do you have to have reality warped killing off over half of all of marvels characters to then have them wage war against eachother cause of registration acts which lead up to not only HULK invading the planet but also other warped aliens which end in multiple global collisions. It doesnt stop there, no not at all, Ultimatum came into play not to long ago with a throw back to Magneto assulting Earth from a floating fortress...add in there the Dark Illuminati and some other bits...non stop madness that can only lead to more pushing at the limits. And thats just Marvel.

As for books books...not reading any currently. I got that Microsoft Reader on my laptop and will start reading from that again once it is sent to me. Its pretty nice, itll even read to you in that computer female voice. Think the last book I read was the Age of Innocence.

Books...

I just finished reading 'The Idiot' by Dostoesvsky. I found it remarkably depressing, but I enjoyed it all the same. It's basically taking someone who's totally innocent and good and showing what the world does with that kind of a person. I cringed the whole way. The song "State of the Union" by David Ford reminds me a lot of the main character.

Now I'm working my way through 'Mrs. Dalloway', a tough piece that my AP class assigned, which has put my other reading, the childrens' fantasy book 'Inkdeath' on hold.

I'm excited to move along from both of them to read the book 'Grendel', by John Gardiner, which is an existentialist novel about the life of the monstrous villain from Beowulf. I have a fascination with the subject because Grendel was a descendant of Cain, who's children is a key character in the subplot of a fantasy novel I've been working on. Gardner's writing has a nice, crunchy, sarcastic edge.

I must be making myself sound like some sort of a geek right now. Ah well. I am. I work in a bookstore. It's pretty much what I do. (Other than play the part of old women, insane birds-ladies and misbehaving fairies with my friend, Kale Allerion.)

Ooh, that sounds cool! *adds to mental list of books to read*

I'm going to have to someday write down this list. It's getting too long to stay in my head. :P
