Hidden Identities

[DungeonMaster]

A figure in large, loose clothing shambled down the street. His long coat hid his feet, though each step echoed as if his boots were made of steel. An occasional grunt could be heard as he paused to look around, and then was on his way once more. He wore a ski mask and sun glasses, in case someone were to see him. He had a hood up over the ski mask, so that from a distance, he wouldn't look like a robber. At one particular bend in the street, he found himself looking head-on at a stranger. The stranger took off down another street at the intersection, yelling for his dog. The man shook his head and sighed, but the sigh came out more like water boiling over the top of a pan. Once more, he found himself alone with his thoughts. It was cold out here, though the day was close to 85 degrees in this section of town.

Jade was inside a building at a part for the elite of society. Her long hair was pulled up into a bun with tendrils curling around her face and brushing ehr shoulders. She wore an elegant off the shoulder black dress with two slits on either side that went clean up to her thighs. Her boots were black high heeled that ended at her knee. Around her neck was a white pearl necklace and white pearls encircle her wrist and hung from her ears. She was breathtaking and vulenrable looking. Her short stature and petite size had men wanting to protect her amd be gentle. None noticed her slip from group to group or how ever so often her quick hands nabbed a piece of jewelry from an unsuspecting victim.

Along the street walked a teen in brown robes with flowing curly brown locks. As he walked he pulled his hair back and up into a top knot. Just before he passed the man aforementioned, he began to braid the hair, and the he suddenly stopped walking, turning to look at the sunglasses of the figure. they looked at each other intently for several moments while the teen braided his long hair, and at the botton of the braid, he hung a lead weight with a flower insignia on it. He held out his hand and spoke kindly to the man before him, "Hello there, large fellow. I couldn't help but notice that you're wearing quite a lot of clothing for such a hot day. Might I suggest a lightweight robe? It keeps-"

The large figure held up a blackened hand, which he had had stuffed in his pocket. He growled in the only tone an incendiary could speak in, "Hush mortal. I sense your weakness and foolishness from here." He pushed the teen into the gutter of the street, where he fell. "Lay there... it suits you well, as it suits the rest of your kind."

The teen stood and spoke quietly, "I am sorry to have offended you, sir. I do not know what you mean by "my kind", but it is obvious now that you are inhumanly strong, nevertheless, if it is a show of prowess you wish, then we shall have a battle of wit. Tell me this... if you are truly superior to me, that is. How many thousands of years has the tree of life been alive?"

The incendiary laughed and grunted, 'Forever of course... now-"

"Wrong!" Interrupted the teen. "It is reborn every 300 years, and this incarnation is only 1623 years old." The incendiary growled and nodded.

"Alright, I'll concede that one to you, but tell me this... how many eons does it take to create a diamond out of mineral particles?" He growled. The teen sat down and scratched his head.

"Anywhere between 5 and 10, usually 6." The incendiary roared loudly and clenched it's fist, menacingly stepping into the street. He was convinced that the teen had somehow cheated, but so log as he hadn't been killed, there was no call for vengeance. The incendiary nodded, confirming the teens answer, and then he released his fist and placed a heavy hand on the teen's head.

"The name is Exile. Don't ask why, just live with it." The incendiary said, "That was quite the show of wit you just gave."

"My own name is spoken in the leaves and the dirt of the earth, in the wind that blows around us, in the flames that burn in the hearts of the immortals... and even in the waters of the ocean. My name is Shii-Kah-Mii... but you may call me what you wish." The teen spoke kindly.

"Then your name shall henceforth be Puny Mortal Number One." They laughed together, and then Exile's eyes let out a burst opf flame, burning his hood off and melting his sunglasses. His mask melted off as well, revealing his true nature to those in the immediate area. he froze in position, frightened that someone lurked just around the corner, prepared to kill him.

[Jade]

Jade flitted from group to group snatching an item here or there just for the hell of it. She after all wasn't quite sane. Insanity ran in her fmaily.

Shii-Kah-Mii stood and walked across the street to the building where Jade was, unaware of what was inside, but not really caring, "I thirst..." he said as he went, and then he walked into the building.

Exile vanished back into the shadows of the city, seeking refuge from the prying eyes of the city.

Jade laughed at something that was said. She was the center of attention in the group she was in. Even with all eyes on her, they didn't see her nap the watch off the man next to her. WHere it disappeared to was anyone's guess?

Shii-Kah-Mii made his way through the crowd, greeting people with a friendly smile, and with a spoken phrase, always the same, "Hello, shining one." This got many laughs, for he stuck out like a sore thumb. Once he had gotten into the crowd, he was lost, but he did not panic, and he tried to navigate through the crowd. In the distance, he saw Jade, but made no note of her, as he had not made note of anyone else in particular. He began moving towards her.

[Jade]

She was blocked from his sight by the taller humans around her then the crowd parted and he'd see her. At the time she was taking a bracelet off a woman's hand. It was in her hand then gone the next. She had nowhere to hide it int he skintight dress and no purse on. But it was gone from sight.

Shii-Kah-Mii was agt her side before anyone knew he was in the crowd. he gently tapped her shoulder and greeted her as he had everybody else, adding one thing, "Could you escort me to the drink table? I am very thirsty."

[Jade]

She arched an eyebrow then shook her head.
"Out of your league kid. Go play at a playground bye now."
She moved and twirled away from him.
