Default A Simple Pantheon

These deities are just simple concepts that have numerous aspects that can be attibuted to them. but its simple, no silly names like "Mephistoffulus"

The Light[good]: Highest goodness, only the truly pure of heart need apply, everything that is good and forgiving is from the light. Those who seek power are humbled those who are sick are healed. Its good in a way mere mortals cannot attain and few actually attempt to.

The Sun Lord[lawful good]:Justice, holy wrath, Order, provision (the harvest etc), the sun. Powerful and overwhelming, but still good and wanting to better man-kind. Evil is crushed.

The Moon Lady[chaotic good]: Peace and art and tranquility. Happiness and blessings and harmony.

The Traveler[chaotic neutral]: also called the trickster, patron of rogues and travelers. He offers aid to the traveler, but also quickness to the scoundrel. He guides the pathways that connect the planes, but also switches them around for his own ammusement. He is often seen as a paradox as he is prayed to by both the merchant and the bandit.

The Mystery[neutral]: deity of magic and divination and prophecy. Of those who desire secrets to be learned or kept or hidden or forgotten. Also mistress of the mind and emotions.

The Lady of the wilds[neutral good]: goddess of trees and forests and calm springs and bunnies and deer and all the nature loving things in the universe. Definite fan of life in general, but espeacially the untamed expanses where things are free from the touch of civiliation. weather and such also falls under her domain, as do the wild frozen lands and arid deserts, though often these aspects are followed seperatly

Lord of the Hunt[neutral menacing]: There is a dangerous side to nature, people get eaten. The ones who do the eating most often follow this guy. But also lawmen tracking a fugitive might throw him a line. The king of predators with no time for the weak.

The Watery Abyss[neutral]: Master of the oceans and depths, as well as many wether related issues since the oceans are often. Sailors, merfolk, fisherpeople mostly make up his ranks. and pirates.

Mechanus[Logical]:Master of machines and order. cold logic, emotionless desicions, machines with lots of gears, golems, robots, artifacers. I guess this guy has a name more then the others, but its an obvious name.

Lord Avarice[neutral evil]: Master of money, awarding wealth that please him (mostly by giving HIM money, but you gotta spend....) those who lie awake at night dreaming about dragon's hoards and compound interest and alan greenspan often serve him. Not the root of all evil, but definitely not encumbered by any thoughts about others.

The Tyrant[Lawful Evil]: He's a tyrant. tyrants like him. He helps those who do tyranical things. Torturors, lawyers, dictators, evil kings, emperor palpatine, theese are his followers. he's probabl too busy for the tyrant's soldier though, and thats why heroes can kill them so easily.

The FarBeing[chaotic weird, and probably not good]: Creature of old and weird and malevolant power. Mindflayers would like him (it). The bizarre and unexplained as well as festering holes that cause universes to be over run by mutant octopi. He(it) causes madness. Cthulu is on his buddy list. You have to be mad to follow him. And not the good kind of mad...

The Plaugebearer[Carelessly Evil]: Master or disease, poison, rot and madness (the good kind). Not out to kill you, but will just because he's made of everything thats bad for you. Those in favor of germ warfare and "curing the orcs" probably like him.

UNdeath[evil]: master of the undead, but also just of necromacy and death in general. dying in pretty much all forms are his bag, baby.

there are of course others you could think of, but they are likely just aspects of some of the afor mentioned. Also a character might follow the specific teachings of a certain saint/sage/enlightened one that had a book about one of the affore mentioned deities. Ie your human paladin could follow Saint Ambrose, Disciple of the sun, or an elf wizard Sage Cal'ith and her teachings on the Mystery. Or they may follow a specific aspect of one of them such as Polora, the mistress of the frozen wastes, aspect of the Wilds.

hmmm I want to create my illusionist, ventrilaquist, effigy master gnome whose way to solve problems is to try invent things. While its likely he would have Mechanus as his clerigy.. he's likely to have a cog or two out of place in his head, if you know what I mean. his familiar will either be a squirl or ferrit...

Oh yeah, i forgot one other,

Elemental Princes{neutral} fire, earth, air, water. each either followed seperately or as any combination. they represent solely their element, no real ideal or motivation.
