The Man Behind the Mask

[Jal-Koon]

Well, I for one say that a sinless man does not exist, so such a removal method is out of the question. Do you have any idea who created that thing?

[DungeonMaster]

"I think it may have made itself... it sounds wierd, but it may be possessed by its maker and the other souls of those who died wearing it... or that's how it seems.

[Jal-Koon]

"Aye, that does complicate things."

Jal paced around, kicking at a small rock.

"If the creator's soul resides in that thing, perhaps we can coax him into control. Or do all of the souls converge to form that creepy imp thing?"

[DungeonMaster]

"I think that the goblin is... probably the maker's soul with the influence of the other souls he devoured. I think he f***ing did this on purpose, just to be immortal, to know the feel of every body before it passes into the aether so he can devour another..."

~How true...~ The mask spat out telepathically at Jal. It would come to regret that slip-up.

[Jal-Koon]

The necromancer shuddered. He wasn't used to anyone talking in his head. However this revelation mask's of ability may be of benefit.

"Immortality eh? Sounds like Mr. Mask Goblin and I share a common goal. It seems to pester you to no end. Does he ever talk to anyone else?"

Charon had been thinking all the while, weighing the options of the current circumstances. If I destroy you, I'll lose my eternal life, and I'm unsure of whether I'll stay in this state and gradually age, or if time will catch up with me. ~Seems like quite the conundrum.~ When the ring heard Jal ask if the mask spoke with others, it let out a slight flash of panic, fearing they had been found out. Charon had always been unsure of removing his ring. He was never sure if he would survive the process or not, but he had lived his life taking chances. This, however, might prove to be the greatest gamble he's ever made.

[Jal-Koon]

The silence echoed through Jal's head more so than any other racket at this point. He finally took the simple aproach and cleared his throat noisily.

"Shall we... erm... continue on then, or camp for the night?

[DungeonMaster]

the masked man walked to the edge of the road and sighed, "We should press on until we are exhausted. We haven't a moment to lose." He began wandering down the road in the direction he had started in. The mask had other plans, whispering again to jal, ~Kill this man and i can be yours for all eternity. You will never age, never grow tired. Does that sound like something you would want to do? All you have to do is kill him.~

Jal was unsure of how to communicate back but he guessed the telepathy was a two-way deal. So replied through thought.

~Yeah, and end up like your current host? Mr. Mask, I may be desperate and fearful, but I'm certainly not an idiot. Dormaker is right, your greatest ambition is to make everyone miserable.~

[DungeonMaster]

~Certainly not. My ambition lies in helping those who seek power to gain it through the spreading of misery.~
