Fenrirr and Tayla continued their assault, but to no avail. Malsum stalked closer and closer to Gaius, whose eyes were frantically darting about.
"GAIUS, RUN!" Fenrirr barked, realizing Malsum's intentions.
He ran.
I bit my lip so hard that I tasted blood, fearing for my brother's life.

"Damn." We muttered.
And the chase began.

This I didn't see, but once he was out of sight, Gaius was scrambling up the cavern walls, attempting to hurl stones at Malsum from above.
Unable to bear not knowing what was going on, I turned to Tuk and asked, "Is there any treatment you can give me?" I took a deep breath, determined to keep calm for just this moment. "And is there any way to transport me from here to the other side of the mirror?"
Tuk rubbed his temples, hard. "You need more time. Please, let him be. He's a mage, Iola. He'll be okay."
"I have to get in there." My stomach was in knots at the thought of rushing to his aid in my condition - of facing the one who took my leg. But these feelings I suppressed.
At length, Tuk sighed. "There's an apothecary in this village," he said. "I'll check and see if she can be trusted. I'll see what she can do for you." Without another word, he left, shutting the door behind him softly.
I stared hard into the mirror, nervously drumming its surface with shaking fingers.

As stones fell like rain down upon us, we dodged and tried to find ways to destroy them. One knicked the temple of our head, and we laughed at how strong we were that we barely felt it. We summoned strength to ourself and created a stone roof for the rocks to fall on. It held but only if we kept one hand up. The other was used to rebuild the roof as some of the stones broke off in chunks.
But, as we held it, we began to keep walking forward.

There was nothing I could do but wait for the apothecary's arrival.
((OOC: It's hard to continue because I feel like a cheater, saying that things are happening even though the speaker can't see them. If you don't mind, then I'll continue.))
Although I couldn't see, Gaius was frantic, clumsily clambering down the rock walls and trying to take advantage of Malsum's few seconds of weakness. As the rocks from the stone shield his enemy had created broke down every so often, Gaius tried to reach just one hand through.
Finally he did. His arm broke through the gap, and as rocks closed in around the limb Gaius prepared a bolt of deadly light, using his newfound magic.

We felt a power surge that should not have come from such a young mage. "What are you doing?" We yelled at him. As we let down the wall we saw what his hands had conjured. We tried to weave a shield but even we knew it was to late, not with such strong magics. "NO!"
