Fallen From Grace

[Aphrodite]

"What was with the explosion? Why haven't you answered my texts? I need to talk with you. What is this about arsons and assults?"

[Apollo]

I dropped everything in my hands. "I don't know how you found out about those but I was in a rough spot with being adopted if you read that. Plus only 3 arson and one measly assault where the guy didn't press charges." I sighed and stood up. "My phone is off 'cause my older brothers were calling me and people were distracting me while I mixed very explosive compounds!" I whispered the last loudly. I walked out with my smile and took out my phone.
I answer everything u want? I sent it.

[Aphrodite]

Not quite. I still have questions but I can wait until after school.

I snapped my phone shut and tried to focus in class. It was no use. I was too curious about Sam and his history. Where he came from, what was his home life like, what his hobbies were. The list was endless.

[Apollo]

When I went back to class, the kids applauded once more for utter stupidity. I smiled and shook my head. I told the teacher I had done my job, and he sent me back ot my seat where the kid I had sat next to me thanked me for moving him. The mess has already been cleaned up and the other set of broom and dust pan, hidden away. I turned my phone back on and read the text. I put her number in my phonebook as:
Snooty?
Well I'll find out. I thought to myself and the rest of the day went fine.

The rest of my class was just as boring as the first half. Nothing seemed to keep my attention for too long. I was dreading last period.


I walked into the cafeteria and found my normal table on the edge of the room. Suddenly I was surrounded by jocks and preps. All of which were guys. The only girl at the table was my best friend Tiff.


I sat there just glancing around the room. Zoning in and out occasionally my eyes caught sight of something strange going on in the corner or the lunch room. From where I was I couldn't exactly see what was happening.


Then the word fight sounded through the room.

[Apollo]

Lunch broke through the day and I found my back down to the food court, the cafeteria was full of people trying to get food. In the corner was a couple of boys with a girl in the middle. "Stop it guys I don't wanna choose!" She yelled. Instantly I judged what was going, what was likely to happen and none of it was good. I walked a little closer..
"I'm gonna kick your ass Pip squeak!" The bigger one said. Someone close by yelled fight and I got right next to them but out of the way.
'Course, my first day, anything can happen. . .

[Aphrodite]

As soon as I heard the word fight I was standing and running towards the corner. I tossed myself into the middle and fists started flying. My shirt ended up tearing, I had a hole in my jeans and my ponytail had fallen letting my long hair down.

I kept yelling, trying to break up the fight. In a split second a fist was thrown and my cheek was caught. I was hit with such force it knocked me to the ground. Then I smelled it. The familiar metallic smell. Blood.

I jumped up and ran from the fight. This can't be happening.

[Apollo]

I watched as Rosaline got in the middle and was tossed around. She took a fist like a champ but fell to the floor. She started to bleed and as she looked around I watched her eyes go black. Whoa! Vampire? In the day? I watched her run out and decided to stop that first.
I watched carefully and as one of the boys took went to tackle smaller boy I grabbed the back of his neck and pulled up. "hey hey hey." I said, the smaller guy went to give a hook now that his opponent was stopped. I blocked it with my forearm then locked his arm in my armpit and pushed the wrong way on his elbow and he stopped. "Now. . . you boys need to settle down." As the principal came around the corner I disapeared and no one knew it was me. I ran after Rosaline, because if I needed to explain stuff then so did she.

I bolted down a deserted hallway. I could already feel my teeth shifting to reveal my hidden fangs. I had to get out of there before something awful happened. I couldn't risk being around people in the state of mind I was in.


It had been so long since I had bitten a human. It wasn't something I did. Being around these humans wasn't too great for me. It tested my self-control. I had done well for so many years. Now one small brawl was complicating everything.


How could I have been so stupid? I should have known better.


I sat down and started to cry.

[Apollo]

I ran after where I saw her go. If I saw what I thought I did it means she's gotta be a vampire, a full blooded vampire. . . My thought went to the lesson Mike had taught about them.
"Alright most vampires are not pure, that means they were turned. Any vampire can turn another." He told me, "Got it so far?" I nodded my head and he continued. "Pure bloods have a few special abilities. The sun doesn't hurt them, they can control what they look like by determining their age. But, they can only go up not down."
My jaw dropped. "That it?"
He thought about it for a second. "Yup." He nodded. "Just remember that the vampires have a contract with the Hunter's Society stating: NO vampire shall feed on a human. If a Hunter or a pure catches it they must be put down. If it's pure blood then they must be put on trial."
Some how I tracked her down and saw her crying.
"Rosaline. . ." I sighed and crouched next to her. "We need to talk."
