Washboard.
As I slowly walk down the aisle I put on a fake smile
I know all the faces looking at me
Death row is where Im headed, they all know it too
They see right through me
I can feel their eyes, eating me alive
Their teeth sink in. they rip me limb from limb
‘Monster!” “Heathen!” and “Cockroach!”
The names they’ve given me.
I just smile as they sedate me. It won’t be long.
A sterilized needle, Funny how that works right?
Just another kid alone in the streets.
At the wrong place at the wrong time is what my lawyer said
But I know better
She knows better
Yet there she is sitting there. Doing nothing,
It must have been destiny.
The voices say “No! No! You Fool!”
But my heart and soul say “Way to go kid”
I know I’ve done wrong and right at the same time
But my mind she doesn’t know to go left or to go right at this point
The colors they start to meld. The smile still on my face
And all I can think to say is..
“it was worth every second I had.”
