Next week I'm going to be updating the rules document with some of the new documents I found at Ralenok's place yesterday and with some of the rules I already have.

I do have a request of you all - if you have come up with rules of for the game, can you post them here and i'll consider putting it into the rules I kept reading about Puck's magic rules, but I can't seem to find them anywhere lol.

my rules are just that...

roll 3d6 for the character, then an opposing d6. Character averages the three dice, then gets a +/- depending on skill level (+1 for 5, +2 for 6, -1 for 2, -2 for 1, 3/4 are nil, defaulting attribute gets a -4) and if the result is better than the d6 (the red one) then they win. I also use Savant's gang-fight rules...

as for character creation, i wanted it harder for characters, so i made it so that equipment couldn't go higher than (2), and background was limited to (3). I also didn't let them have followers, and replaced Money and Mentor with Job. I also gave everyone a free contact that i made up on a whim. (took a few tries to give some of those people a contact, and only one has taken that contact so far)

My main suggestion was

yeah, i think explaining the exp side would be good and allowing enhanced character creation, perhaps with a level system saying i dunno that u could add one point to an attribute etc per level or trade in all your exp for a new skill, if this is the case tho u would need large gaps between levels either that or lower the starting criteria to keep characters from becoming gods in a very short amount of time.

Although i like larrins no followers and mortys free ally thing too, i think it adds a bit more character to the Game and lets the GM meld it a bit more to a certain path

(Hehe, Bull is quite fun morty)

My sugestion for magic was fairly simple. A charecter has a spell. For each point he gives it, it will take loner to regenerate. For example, fireball(1) would take 20 minutes before it could be used again, firball(2) 40 minutes, and so forth. You may want to change the time incroments. You could also put modifiers dependant on what source they used. for instance, energy is delfault, so no modifyer, but if they use fire or whatever as the source, they would get a reduction in the time (half maybe) but would also have to find some fire or whatever the sourec was in order to use the spell.
I hope that is a little more clear. If you would like me to write it oficial style so you don't have to, let me know, and I will.

It would be useful if you could Puck

Experience Points Spending:

Spending expereince points is quite simple - if you want to raise a skill or attribute, you pay the desired level in expereince points. Example:

Bob the Nob wants to increase his Sword skill from 4 to 5. This costs 5 experience points.

If you wish to learn a new skill or ability, you must first find a teacher, and spend the experience point to get raised to the first level. However, most GMs (myself included) usually have rules that say you have to convince that teacher to teach you, afterall, they probably don't know you, so why should they teach you? What do they get out of it?

In terms of time, we played it that the level you want to raise the skill to takes that many weeks to raise. So going back to Bob the Nob, raising his sword skill from 4 to 5 would take 5 experience points, and 5 weeks of training. Essentially, a character is unavailable during a training time, but it's up to the GM. Obviosly a character won't devote every part of their time to the training, but they should be inavailable to go dungeon bashing or anything along those lines.

Characters can teach other players new skills, but they have to have at least 4 in that skill to teach the character, and even with a 4, they can only teach them the first level.

how are experience points awarded? just by GM's discretion, or is there some sort of guidelines...?

another options for magic would be exhaustion points. In the appendix of character creation it was said that magic exhausted the user or at least drained him of a little energy. Thus instead of only being able to cast 1 fireball every 20 minutes ( a bit of a problem in a fight) you could cast quite a few, but in the end you would be really tired, just like if you had spent the whole fight waving a twenty pound sword at some one. My idea would be each time they caste a spell they would gain exahaustion points, points that would disapper after certain time (10 minutes a point, maybe an hour, whatever works best, this is just a beta idea) but while you had them they would lag you down, perhaps subtracting from physical performance and mental concentration, the more componets (words, gestures, jelly beans) used to cast the spell, less points on you, too many points you collapse in exhaustion, maybe die or have a period of weakness where you can't cast magic. I'm just throwing out ideas here, but i think its workable

also i like the idea of psychics, sorta a nonmagic thing, again my space madness version is maybe a little crude, but its a good start...

Prae had them on his site, but it's not there anymore. If anyone else has a copy (looks at Larrin & Puck) I'm sure DK would post it here
