Bush was in the Military. He may have been in the Air Gaurd, still counts and he was a Pilot. Kerry got a purple heart because a grenade went off and he got a piece of rice lodged in his butt cheek. As for the first plane that hit the towerhe wanted to make sure it wasn't an accident, we all know planes go down without a terrorist behind the wheel. He stayed calm because if he started to freak out when the first one was hit, the entire nation would have been in a state of Panic. We went into that when the second plane hit.
