Default The World's Squirrely Fate is at Stake...

[ OOC: For any guests interested in posting, all I ask is that you only post in this thread if you are willing to make a commitment to this thread and post on a fairly regular basis. (meaningful glance at Clan Shadowstar ) ]

Deep in the heart of the Demon Forest, lies a creature with such power that has never before been experienced. The only thing that could repair this wasteland and turn it back into a peaceful utopia, or destroy the entire world, it lies in wait, watching the landscape, waiting for the perfect time to reveal itself... In the form of a small, fuzzy squirrel.

[OOC: Hey Benny! Our first In-character thread together... how exciting! If you need me to go into more detail of Shmee, let me know, but I'm hoping to develop him as we go.]

"Stupid path and it's stupid winding," Shmee muttered bitterly to himself as he wandered through the forest. "I'm completely and utterly lost. Not that anyone knows or cares. How the hell did I get here, anyway?"
Where the teddy bear walked, plants flourished. He left small flowers growing in his footprints. He found a comfortable looking spot in the shade of a large tree, and slumped down. Vines started growing behind him.
"These stupid plants are going to drive me insane. If I'm not already, that is."
Shmee sighed and settled down to rest.

He looked down at the bear with gleaming golden eyes.
So This is the creature that has awoken me, He thought. Just looking at the creature seemed to relieve all of His worries. He felt drawn to this teddy bear in a way He had never before experienced. Measuring the distance perfectly, He leaped from His perch and landed on the bear's stomach.
As soon as He touched the creature, a wave of relief swept though Him. It was as if all that He could feel was the world's goodness and joy, and none of the evil or worries mattered.
He stood, stunned and ecstatic, on the belly of the bear.

"WHAT THE FREAKING HELL!!!" Bellowed Shmee. He stood up quickly, dislodging the squirrel from his stomach, and dusted himself off. "Paws off the merchandise! What the hell do you think you're doing, anyway? I have enough problems, without you dumping all your evil on me!"
Shmee eyed the squirrel cautiously. "Just a squirrel. You probably can't understand a word I'm saying, anyway. Is everything in this stupid forest out to disturb me?"
The bear sighed heavily and sat down again.
"Well at least now I have some company. Just...don't touch me."

After being thrown from the bear, He was suddenly cast out of His reverie. The squirrel felt very refreshed and pure after touching the bear, but now He could feel the evil in the world pressing in on Him.
He looked up at the bear, who was now sitting again.
"What powerful creature are you, that can awaken an Old God from His slumber and cast away all evil simply by touch?"
Noticing the bear's startled expression, He added "No, I am not just a squirrel. I have been trapped in this form for millenia. I am Pol, God of Starlight, and have been in a slumber caused by an evil magic. Your power has dispelled this magic. I am grateful."
The squirrel bowed gracefully.

"An Old God," Shmee muttered, "Great. This is just what I need now." He rolled his eyes.
"And no, I do not 'dispel' or 'cast away' your evil. I absorb it. Whatever touches me, all their evil is transferred to me and I must suffer because of it. Sure, I purify whatever I touch, but at the cost of my own purity."
Shmee looked down at the squirrel reproachfully. "So don't touch me again, or I'll have to goosh you." He made a squishing gesture with his foot. "I don't think you could defend yourself very well in that form."

"interesting, that is quite the ability you have, though I am sure it must be quite the hastle..."
The voice seemed to come from a thicker portion of the brush through which two golden orance eyes now seemed to be peering, glitting in the light.

Pol turned to look back at the glaring eyes, his own eyes narrowed.
"Who are you?" He spoke loudly, but his twitching tail revealed his fear. "What power have you that I cannot sense your presence?"
Pol backed up until he felt he was close enough to the large tree to leap for cover if the need arose.
The bear-creature was right, He thought, I couldn't possibly defend myself in this pitiful form.

"Who are you talking to?" Shmee asked the panicked squirrel, "I didn't hear anything."
This is perfect, the bear thought angrily, I don't just have an Old God with me, no, I have to have an insane Old God.

As soon as the bear said that, Pol could no longer see the orange eyes in the brush.
"Hmm," mumbled the Old God, "Must have been my imagination."
He turned back to the bear, keeping his senses on alert in case the eyes or voice came back. Speaking to Shmee again, he said, "How did you gain this power? Where do you come from? I have never heard of a creature with this ability before."
