The Lioness, The Sorcerer, and The Portal
The bar was suddenly filled with the sound of an explosion that rocked the walls and floor. Smoke filled the room and when it cleared a portal had formed. A figure was thrown through the portal and landed with a resounding crash into a wall. Two more figures jumped through the portal and the bar saw a lion and a lioness. The lion shook it's mane and roared at the portal as the lioness moved to the unmoving figure. The figure was covered in a cape and the lioness butted it gently. The scent of blood filled the air and began to pool around the figure. As the portal closed there was the sound of an evil laugh then a pop. For those present this was perhaps a normal occurence. Then again the figure was bleeding and it didn't appear to be stopping. That couldn't be good or normal.

Joe poked his head out of his work place.
"What's going on now?"
Al pointed to the general direction of the newcomers and where the portal was.
A: "I uh, think your wall blew up, spat them out, then fixed itself."
Joe took off his glasses and twisted his mask around his head so he wore it correctly.
J: "Ah no, judging from the magical residue it was a protal."
He then noted the girl and moved to the bar where he started pulling out two boxes from under it.
A: "A what?"
J: "Portal, I'll explain later, could you check on her? I need to set this up..."
He procuced chalk and candles from the boxes then started makeing an array on the floor.
A: "Ah uh, r-right."
So saying he rushed to check on the girl, though minded the lions.

Both lions immediately took up a defensive position in his path. The male roared at him in warning and the lioness hissed. No matter which way he tried to go areound him they moved to block him. Yet the pool of blood widened. At this rate the figure would bleed to death.

Al's ears pulled back.
A: "Uh Joe? Small problem...."
Joe looked up and sighed then pulled out a black cloth roll from his coat and opened it on the floor.
J: "Fred!"
At that something orangcolored darted through from the ceiling toward the face of the lion, though even if it made contact it wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't be plesent. Afterall Fred is only a spirit so he has no really physical pressence when he doesn't want one , but the feel of him passing through you leaves much to be desired.
Al used this time to try cut around placing the lion's body between him and the lioness.
In Joe's bundle were a variaty of knives. He slowly drew out one and seemed to examine it closely.

The lion shook it's mane as Fred passed through him. Then it made a growling nose and shook it's body. It's eyes darted around looking for the attack once more. Though the lioness should have been the one to watch. Though the lion can be deadly the lioness is the hunter. The minute Al moved and place the lion between them she countered it. Growling her displeasure she leapt and crouched over the woman. Once more blocking access to the figure. Neither animal was allowing someone close to the figure when the figure was wounded. It was trained into them to protect at all costs. The figure made a moaning sound. The lioness kept Al in sight as she moved slowly. She then laid down right by the figure's head, letting the figure's hand touch her side. Even though she was laying she was still alert and could attack within seconds. Approaching the figure was dangerous. Yet if she was awakening perhaps she could call off the cats.

Al moved back again frowning.
J: "Fred, seems you may have to take it up a notch."
Al once more rose up then shot at the lion, this time he didn't pass through but seemed to enter it. The lion shook it head and staggered a little then it seemed to have its eyes glaze over. The way it acted it almost seemed drugged. Then it turned and looked to the lioness, fallowing the stange instructions in it's head. What it saw was not the lioness but another much darker colored cat, and she was far too close. He pounced.
While it is true the females are the hunters for the pride, it is wrong to think the males can't. Due to their larger size, they are able to take down larger prey than a single female. (females just tend to hunt as a group for the pride when they are together)
Amazingly though Al did not take advantage of this right away. Instead he seemed to stager for a moment when Fred entered the lion. It took him am moment to gather his wits before he started circling around to try find an opening.
Joe quietly pulled out two more knives then stuck them in his coat and whispered to his first knife.
"Chronos, we are but dust in the winds of time."
The blade of the knife seemed to disintegrate into sand.
"Show me the winds."
The started reforming but into a chain coming out from the bladeless hilt.

The lioness leapt back to avoid the larger lion. It was confused by the lion's behavior. It made a growling sound in it's throat. It saw Al edge towards the female and growled. It watched the lion but edged towards Al, which would draw the lions attention to Al and his closeness to the figure.

Joe smiled as he shook his head. His knife had finished it's transformation. At the end of the chain there seemed to be an hour glass. He tilted it sideways and seemed to blur from where he was to beside the figure where he finished turning it and stabed one of his other knifes into the blood puddle. He then gave her a nudge on the shoulder.
"Time to wake up and call of your pets ma'am. They're making it difficult to treat your wounds."
He turned the hourglass again and returned to where he was before at which it returned to a normal knife for him to put away in the roll.
A: "Why didn't you do that to begin with?"
J: "Thats enough Fred."
The spirit left the lion again and Al seemed to loose ballance, stumble back and fall on his tail at which he griped his head.
A: "Oh, please never let him do that when he's around me again..."
J: "Hmmm interesting... but to answer your question, it is because it takes time to set up."

Jade moaned again softly. Both of the lions moved immediately to her side and growled almost simultaneously at Joe and Al. The lion was shaking his head, it's big mane moving as he did. The lioness' muscles were coiled in preparation of an attack. The figure's fingers twitched. They heard her make a sound low in her throat almost like a grunt. Both lions immediately took up positions near her but laid on the ground appearing almost docile.

Joe smiled.
J: "Al check now."
A: "Do I have to?"
J: "Well yes, if we can't get to her I'll have to try something very unplesent."
A: "Ah right and getting attacked by lion's is delightful..."
Joe just smiled and motionioned him on.
Al frowned and slowly crept forward caustiously watching the large cats.
