Waking Dreams
"Halt's Maul!" came the sound of an embittered feminine voice beyond the doors of the Troll Spit. "Steigt aus meinem Kopf aus!"
As the last word was spoken one of the doors burst open allowing the violent and frozen winds to enter before her. A cloaked and cowled figure stepped inside and swiftly shut the door. The dark cloak and matching cowl covered all but the woman's dark emerald eyes. Quietly she made her way to the bar and sat in a stool near the middle of the long high counter and glanced around. She then dropped her hands into her lap and let her eyes follow clearly lost in thought.
(OOC: Halt's Maul is a very offensive way of (saying shut) up in German and the other part of the speech means "Get out of my head.")

There was a man sitting on the far corner of the bar with a small black book in his hands. His brown hair was pulled back into a ponytail at the base of his neck and he wore a strange outfit. To the modern age it would look like a business suit that had been worn to bed. Its hard to say what one from worlds that hadn't developed that far would see it as. He also wore a pair of glasses that had been smoked black hiding his eyes. The oddest thing however was the strange fox mask he wore on the side of his head, it looked almost ceremonial.
He glanced up at the woman then back to his book turning a page.
"Where I'm from we have a saying. 'Penny for your thoughts' I often feel it under appreciates the value of putting any words together in one's head at all. . . Can I get you anything?"

The woman let out a slow sigh as she shrugged her shoulders. The simple act of movement caused the headdress to fall and reveal a thick mass of auburn curls and pale features that only intensified with the sight of her eyes. She turned slowly to the man at the end of the bar glancing at his book.
"Well met Joe," she said in a soft voice that seemed to be buried in sorrow. "Wine if you please. Red if you have it."

He raised his eyebrow.
"Your usual then?"
He swung his feet off the bar and stepped down putting his book away. He strolled at his usual casual pace to a point and knelled down to pull out and inspect a glass.
"Or something more common?"
He moved down and placed a finger on a bottle bellow the bar.

A pull at the corner of her lips mocked the dull look in her eyes. "Hmmm, the usual? No, I haven't had that particular drink in quite a while. Something more mundane this time Joe." Lifting her hands from her lap, she set them on the table. The pale skin of her slender fingers seemed fragile to the point of breaking. "Just something strong enough to let me lie dormant without dreams."

"Hmmm strong enough to lie dormant without dreams...."
He pulled out a bottle.
"I hope you like cab-merlots..."
Producing a waiter's cork screw her uncorked bottle before pouring her a glass.
"Its from a good year, but you may want to let it breath a moment. So, why do you seem so depressed?"

She breathed in the scent of the Merlot before taking a large unfeminine sip. Letting out a deep breath, she cracked her knuckles in hopes that it might relieve the tension that was built up all throughout her body.
"Ah Joe, do you remember the wing hilt sword that I carried? You must, she was a beauty, a one of a kind." A pink tinged tear leaked out from the corner of one eye. "It's gone. I do not know how, but it is gone and no matter how many steps I retrace I can not find it. The one thing my father left for me aside from his blood lust, is gone. And with it, not only when I sleep, but waking dreams. They are tormenting me Joe and I have no idea of how to stop them aside from drowning in myself in spirits and dormancy."

He rubbed his chin a moment.
"Hmmmm....."
He pulled out his small black book and started flipping through it again.
"Well... that is a predicament. And a puzzle... "
His thumbs strummed back and forth on the pages but he wasn't looking at them now, rather he looked at the ceiling.
"Well, I supose you could always try to scry for it if you haven't tried that."

"Scrying? Yes the thought has occurred to me, but as most of us know, scrying is not in my arsenal of tricks. I doubt the act would even work because of the enchantments placed on the blade." Another sip and swallow of her wine, and she dropped her head into her hands.
"Joe, I can't fathom the enchantments, I cannot even fathom from whence the blade came, I just know that if the blade is not returned to me I will forever suffer the repercussions of my inability to keep it at my side. These dreams they even worm their way into my thoughts, they pester me and I find myself drawn to follow the demands, as asinine as they seem."

He closed his book and tapped it on his lips.
"Well, we could at least try...if you would like to. I know the incantations for a few scying spells, we would need one where I could induce you into a trance, and one powerful enough to work against, well, potentially powerful enchantments..."
He let out a sigh putting his black book away. The tone on his voice was uncharacteristic for him. It almost sounded troubled. He held out his right hand and a white book with golden inlayed lettering on the cover. It resembled angelic, bit more like a long dead form of it.
The book opened on its own and started fliping through its own pages as joe stared at it.
"Hnnn...Miss Chronica, please tell me of these dreams? What do they often entail or tell you to do?"
