Unification Day
Zoe had command. She'd keep Serenity steady. River's piloting abilities were better than ever. Honestly, Mal was pretty impressed. Not that he'd say it. Kaylee and the doc would be fine entertainin themselves. That left Mal. And that left TSBG.
Every year, on this day, he and Zoe would go to yet another bar on the edge of the verse. Now, this here wasn't exactly part of any verse Mal had been a part of, but River'd been known to get Serenity into some pretty...interesting spots. Never the less, here Captain Malcolm Reynolds found himself. Alone.
As he approached the bar, he had remembered what he had told them. He had the same instructions he usually gave out. He looked at Zoe and River, and told them "I ain't sure how things'll go down. Here there's a weapons somethin', and I aim to make it back alive. Remember though, I'm not back in a couple hours, and you don't here from me, you all take my ship...and you come rescue me." Zoe nodded. She didn't say much since...
Mal finally reached the door, and casually walked in. He approaches the bar, and orders a drink. Whiskey. And he waits. He always waits. Today was unification day. Someone, somewhere, they always supported the alliance. And Mal would wait. Eventually someone would say something, and if they didn't, he'd leave. Glancing around, he had a feeling he wouldn't be here long. Looked like not many folk round here knew what the alliance was.
'Oh well,' he thought, 'gettin' work wouldn't be such a bad thing 'neither.'
