Each race of Azeroth has a selection of classes you may choose from. You can not for example be a tauren and a rogue or a draenei and a druid. If you wish to be a certain class you must be a race that allows that class. Please read on each class before choosing. You can choose a race first then choose a class. If you want to choose a race first please read the Introduction to the Horde or the Introduction to the Alliance. There is information listed for the races.
Classes:
Druids - Can preform a variety of roles. They have several animal forms including cat, bear, treeform, and moonkin. While the druid can dps like a rogue in cat form, tank like a warrior in bear form it can also heal members of it's party. (Tauren, Night Elves)
Hunter - The only class that can use ranged weapons like bows as a primary weapon. They tame animals to fight for them and defend them. Good scouts, trackers, and survivalists they are adapt at surviving alone. (Dwarf, Night Elf, Orc, Tauren, Troll, Blood Elf, Draenei)
Mage - Powerful damage casters with both range spells and area of effect spells. They can specialize in arcane, fire, or frost. Each having it's strengths and weaknesses. They can also conjure food and water or create portals to major cities. (Humans, Gnomes, Undead, Trolls, Blood Elves, Draenei)
Paladin - Holy warriors that like the druids are a hybrid class. They can dps, tank, or heal. Arguably one of the best support classes in the game. (Humans, Dwarves, Blood Elves, Draenei)
Priest - Primarily healers. They can heal a single target or multiple targets at once. They have some interesting tricks up their sleeves including mind control and power word shield. Though priests fill a healing spot with ease, they can also fill a damage spot. Priests that specialize in shadow magic can assume Shadowform. This specialization in shadow magic allows them to recover mana for their party while they deal damage. (Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Undead, Trolls, Blood Elves, Draenei)
Rogue - Melee damage dealers that excel at incapacitating their targets especially cloth wearers. They have the ability to stealth and sneak up on their targets. Stunning them and dealing massive amounts of damage before a target can have time to react. (Gnomes, Humans, Dwarves, Night Elves, Blood Elves, Orcs, Undead, Trolls)
Shaman - Yet another hybrid class. Shamans can switch from caster, to melee dps, to healing. They drop totems that buff their party. They are also unique in that they can self resurrect then ressurect the rest of their dead party members. (Orcs, Tauren, Trolls, Draenei)
Warlock - Warlocks enslave and use demons to their advantage. With dark magic and curses they focus on damage over time and are yet another caster class. They lack the burst damage of a mage, but there ability to fear and allow their spells to continue to deal damage makes them deadly. They are advantages to any party with their abilities to summon other party members to them, create healthstones to restore health, and provide a soulstone that stores the soul allowing a party member to ressurect by using the soulstone. (Gnomes, Humans, Orcs, Undead, Blood Elves)
Warrior - Fills the roll primarily of a tank. They have the ability to withstand damage inflicted on them while also keeping enemies off the rest of their party. Allowing other members to deal the damage to a target without taking any themselves. They can also provide strong melee dps when needed. (All Races except Blood Elves)
