Revising????

Alright, so I want you all to remain open-minded while you hear what I have brain-stormed. I have discussed this with Tarsha and she believes it to be a good idea...but obviously we never make a decision without bringing it to you guys first and discussing it. PLEASE READ EVERYTHING EVEN THOUGH THIS IS LONG!
LOSS OF ACTIVITY
-Excluding us losing activity on the site due to finals, school...CURSES! And what not...the site has been slowly dying over time. Everyday whether you notice it or not someone joins on average 2 people a day. However...they never post...My thinking for this is something here peeks their interest, whether its the layout, posts, or general curiosity. However, they never seem to stay or post. This I believe is because DKD where as grasps them...there is nothing here spectacular that holds their interest.

PROBLEM SOLVER
-Right now WoW, Dungeons and Dragons ( D&D), and Final Fantasy (FF), are the hottest RP Forum topics. Today I can't even tell you how many boards I surfed through. Hundreds and hundreds with all of these topics. I actually found and RP board mimicing WoW...(mental note:find for Tarsha). These boards have hundreds of users on every hour.
-Lets face it...DKD is old fashioned. Where as it is the DKD we all know and love I do not find it to be modernized enough to meet the RP generation now posting. I think we need to give the public what the public wants.

I am proposing revising DKD. Adding forums such as these and expanding DKD to brighter horizons. I know this contradicts our theory of "less is more" however we needed DKD the way it is now because it was a mess. BUt now we can focus on changing and forming a DKD that will attract posters and be spontaneous enough to keep them here.

This is something that I think we could work towards and can build on greatly. PLease let me know your thoughts.

Well if you are thinking of makeing forum "worlds" that include themes from the games, you could probably have the FF one be named Final Fantasy or (more perferable) Vanadeil (I probably spelled that wrong) If you need help with that forum I could probably do it, and I know Tarsha has played FF but I don't know if she is on DKD enough to do much as far as moding goes... (atleast I don't see her much)

There wouldn't be a forum Worlds where they would all just be there. They would get their own section. Totally apart from IC...that would include 3 forums...the 3 different topics.

Yep but it wouldn't like be listed under Happydale like the next forum...it would have a whole...ummm box. Like you see how we have IC...the a page break..RPG discussion page break...get it?

An additional thing we might add as one of the forums is an area to facilitate in game trade. However we should stress the point of enforcing a rule of no trading anything that is not in game on the site. (trading real dollars for gold) Punishment should be severe such as banning as that kind of thing is in game taboo and I think it may be illegal as well...not sure. But it is a big no no.

Not a bad Idea, I actaully originally found this site because it was hosting a D&D forum a looooong time ago, that forums been gone for a while now. But yeah, I could probably oversee a D&D type forum.

Word of Warning. We will need tight rules, getting a bunch of WOWers etc. can bring in some pretty unpleasent imature people, i suggest using rules like these: http://www.giantitp.com/forums/announcement.php?a=1 , http://www.enworld.org/announcement....ouncementid=45

where things are pretty well spelled out and moderators aren't shy to step in...its important.

Thats to be expected ...from what I understand the chuck norris craze started on one channel on WoW.... *shudder*

no, but the rumor that it started on a WoW channel started on a WoW channel.

the chuck norris craze started in the old testament, where the 11th commandment was passed down as "thou shalt not piss off chuck norris" but was later removed because it was impossible to follow.

i'm on cain i just haven't had anything interesting to post in. i come on at least once a day to check things. as for the wow ppl i can handle them. i've been playing for almost 2 years now. i'm used to them. i can't stand the chuck norris jokes. drive me bonkers. i'm going to ban them. lol. but yeah i think larien's idea is a good one. we'd probably add them to above the ic forums so they are at the top and one of the initial things you see.
