Uh-oh the admins have been talking!

The admins have been discussing the attendance on the site. On a good day we have 10 people posting, on a bad day maybe 2, and on an average day about 5. Forums go weeks maybe months without posts, because you guys are not posting in the forums. I just re-uped the domain for another two years. At this point I'm wondering if that was a mistake. I know all of you have school. I have work. But I still find time to post in threads that need me or at least try to. I look everyday on the site with my characters and see rarely any new posts. So we need a solution. Here is what the admins have come up with. Let us know what you think the best option is or give us one of your own.

1. We delete all forums and condescene to maybe one or two that the majority of members agree they will post in. We have always had several options of places for you to post. But with our traffic lately maybe the number of forums is not such a good idea.
2. We do another revamp, make the site and forums more appealing. We choose a certain number probably 5 forums. People submit ideas and the site votes on their favorites to add. Then we pay a $150 for advertising in search engines that DK says draw a lot of people to his sites. I'm not about to send another $150 on the site if the current members don't agree to help us by at least posting often and keeping up attendance. We need people to create forums and keep them active. One of the problems is moderators not being moderators. I will admit to not posting in my forums but most of them time it is due to people disappearing.
3. We shut down the site.

Right now the admins feel option 2 would be the best. We have no will or inclination to shut down the site. For all of us it is an escape and a place to be with our friends. But none of us can afford the money drain if none of you are willing to put in the effort. Please give us your comments and any suggestions you might have. If no one answers we're going to assume none of you care what decision we make. I'm not saying that means we will shut down. I am saying that means you want us to make the decision for you. In which case I will favor option one or three. Because there I'm not willing to spend the money if our members are not willing to make an effort to contribute to the site.

ummmm yeah, i personally am hoppin for option 2. (and yes, i said hopping, not hoping) heck, if i can, ill front the 150. (cant make any promises though, due to recent financial setbacks........*mutters to herself......stupid credit card limits*) at any rate, if i can i will.

I too would vote for 2 but like ama I'm not so sure what I can contribute financialy. I have to start job hunting soon since I'm out of college after one more semester.

If anybody can contribute that would be great. Even if its 10 dollars or the whole thing; the more we get the more pressure is taken off of the Admins.

Now some of you may want to know where the $150 is going so I am going to explain to exactly what the program is and where the money is going.

The program is called VBSEO- the SEO is Search Engine Optimization. See, the forums create cryptic URLS that are hard for search engines such as Google to pick up when RP sites are searched. Hence, what this program does is alters the URLs to that which the search engine wants. Heres an example.....

The Peace Keeper Forum...

VBSEO altered URL

The second link is what the search engine wants. NOw DK has used this on his site and he assures me that is aids in generating a larger population being that the site is more visible to the public. So we can do this but once agian its $150.

Now you know what exactly it is and where the money is going. There are more options as far as real advertising but but DK assures me that you have to pay monthly for a lot of them and its a hassle. This is a one time a year payment if I am correct I can double check that with him. But he suggests we do this first, and I have complete confidence in his advice.

Oooooh dear...

So is this $150 an annual or monthly payment? It would seem to be the best option, but money is a problem for most these days.

Then again I don't know much about running websites.

No guys it is not a monthly fee. There is no way any of us could pay $150 a month. I believe if I am correct and DK can correct me if I'm wrong but, it is a yearly fee. Then again it may just be a one time fee...its one of the two. I will get the answer asap though. However, it is definately not a monthly fee.

hey, SORRY for not being on or being able to help pay at the moment but internet is shut off at my mom's house and alas still no job...but i'm working for ways to help...
im lucky enough to be visiting maliki and his family right now so i have temorary use...ill talk to him and make sure he checs this out soon if i can//

I'm honestly not asking for anyone to contribute anything other than their presence on the site. I will pay for it. But I am not going to unless all of you promise to get on and post. Like most of you I really can't afford it. However I have already said I would pay for it if our members contribute by getting on more.

Larien and I have already been discussing the forums and what we want to do. Honestly I am tired of deleting and adding new forums, so we're thinking of maybe keeping the current ones. This means the moderators need to get on and post in their forums. I don't care if the moderators decide to just restart the forums with a clean slate and new threads. That is up to them. I probably will do this in my forum since a lot of the threads died because people stopped posting. Yet the moderators can not post by themselves. We need the members to post as well.
